What Is Smart Zoning?
A zoning system divides your home into separate temperature zones, each controlled independently. Instead of heating or cooling your entire home to one temperature, you can set different temperatures for different areas — keeping bedrooms cooler at night, warming the living room in the morning, and ignoring unused spaces entirely. The result is improved comfort and lower energy bills.
Lennox Smart Zoning System
Formerly iHarmony — the brain of your Lennox zoning system
The Lennox Smart Zoning System (formerly iHarmony) is the central controller for a Lennox zoning installation. It coordinates up to 4 independent zones, manages damper positions, and communicates with your Lennox equipment and S40 thermostat to deliver precise, efficient comfort throughout your home.
- Controls up to 4 independent comfort zones
- Fully communicating — integrates with iComfort and S40 thermostat
- Coordinates damper positions with system operation
- Prevents pressure buildup with bypass damper control
- Works with variable-speed and two-stage Lennox equipment
- Reduces energy use by conditioning only occupied zones
Damper Control Module (DCM) — 10C16
Controls motorized dampers in each zone
The Lennox Damper Control Module (DCM) 10C16 controls the motorized dampers in each zone of your zoning system. One DCM is installed per zone branch, communicating with the Smart Zoning System controller to open and close dampers based on each zone's demand.
- Controls motorized dampers to open and close each zone
- One DCM per zone branch
- Communicates with the Smart Zoning System controller
- 24V operation — compatible with standard HVAC wiring
- Precise damper positioning for accurate zone control
- Required for each zone in a Smart Zoning installation
Zone Sensor — 17A30
Temperature sensor for each zone
The Lennox Zone Sensor 17A30 monitors the temperature in each zone of your zoning system. Installed on the wall in each zone, it reports local temperature to the Smart Zoning System controller so each zone can be conditioned independently.
- Monitors temperature in each zone independently
- Wall-mounted in each zone for accurate local readings
- Communicates zone temperature to the Smart Zoning controller
- Low-voltage wiring — easy installation
- Required for each zone in a Smart Zoning installation
- Works with the Smart Zoning System and DCM modules
Discharge Air Temperature Sensor — X2658
Monitors supply air temperature to protect equipment
The Lennox Discharge Air Temperature Sensor X2658 monitors the temperature of supply air leaving the system. It's a required component in Smart Zoning installations — it prevents the AC coil from freezing or the furnace heat exchanger from overheating when multiple zones are closed and airflow is restricted.
- Monitors supply air temperature in the plenum
- Prevents freezing (AC) or overheating (furnace) from low airflow
- Required for proper Smart Zoning system operation
- Installed in the supply plenum near the air handler or furnace
- Protects equipment when multiple zones are closed simultaneously
- Works with the Smart Zoning System controller
