Common Thermostat Problems & Fixes
Blank or black screen
Check the circuit breaker, replace batteries (if battery-powered), and verify the furnace door is fully closed (door safety switch).
System not turning on
Set the thermostat to HEAT or COOL (not AUTO), raise or lower the setpoint 5°F past room temperature, and check the system switch is ON.
Wrong temperature reading
Move the thermostat away from heat sources, drafts, and direct sunlight. Recalibrate or replace if the sensor has failed.
Short cycling (turns on and off rapidly)
Check for a dirty air filter restricting airflow. A faulty heat anticipator or oversized system can also cause short cycling.
Thermostat not reaching setpoint
Check and replace the air filter. Inspect registers for blockages. If the system runs constantly without reaching setpoint, call for service.
Smart thermostat Wi-Fi issues
Restart your router and thermostat. Ensure your Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz (most smart thermostats don't support 5GHz).
